Unfortunately Season 2 of Highschool of the Dead was not released on September 5, 2011, as many rumors stated it would be. The exact date of Season 2’s release is still unknown, but at least we know there will in fact be a Season 2. This was answered at Anime EXPO 2011 at the H.O.T.D panel Q/A’s. See the video of the question and answer yourself below.

But basically Shouji Sato will be part of a 30 minute Q&A panel at AnimagiC in Germany, Saturday July 28th. Lets hope he answers questions on the status of HOTD.
I’ve asked Shōji Satō via several emails whats happening with HOTD, he has not responded. Hopefully someone in Germany asks him directly.
EVERYONE CHECK THIS OUT!!!! Maybe we can get some answers! http://www.animania.de/animagic-ehrengast-sato.html
To answer some questions: Yes there is a dubbed version, duh, u can watch it on Netflix, its how i found out about HOTD and fucking love it.
Yes there is said to be an season 2, hopefully they are just working on it right now trying to get shit done
I heard that the reason season 2 hasnt been released is cause of extreme ecchi that it might be considered Hentai.. WTF!? COMON! BULLSHIT! LOL
As of right now i stopped watching Fairy Tail ( Amazing fucking anime ) only cause i dont want to end up like Naruto right now having to wait for a new episode each weak and having to scream cause an awesome part comes up and im forced to wait. Right now im watching One Piece. HOLY SHIT! OVER 500 EPISODES! ill never fucking finish it in time..
But to talk about the most awesome anime ever IMO. HOTD, has got to be the best ever. Ive been a zombie fan ( killing them, watching movies of em getting killed, i dont like zombies, id kill em myself, just like SAeko >:D) for a long time since i culd even rmr. And just to pass by an Anime on Netflix called High school of the Dead, with 2 girls on the screen, i clicked it and i read the info, it had fucking zombies. so i watched it, each part i had goosebumps, beginning when Takashi was talking, then the zombies appeared, then they were running, then ooh Rei ;D. and u know wut i said in the beginning? “it may be animation, but i can fucking care less right now.” cause it has zombies, hot women, ecchi!! (which i didnt knew that time.) and well holy crap guns. the story is fucking amazing, i love the characters, Saeko especially, and shit, im waiting and abt to flip tables, but all we can do is wait. ^_^ HOTD TRUE FAN! NEED NEW SEASON 2 !! ill be waiting, i got all the time in the world.
Regarding that talk about the anime being too ecchi. People should stop repeating that unless they can provide a reputable source. Its most likely just a repeated rumor.
The manga is just as sexy if not more so than the anime, especially given that most of the girls are minors (at least in the US) and in the manga they all show nipple, while in the anime only the adult in the group does.
Shouji Sato, the manga illustrator, also does hentai under a pen name, why would he care how sexy it is.
In any case, HOTD is ecchi but in no way is it hentai or even close.
thank you, and DAMN forreal? yeah i figured cause there was this picture of the bath scene from the manga and it showed their nipples, but in the Anime it only showed Shizukas. but yeah haha creators of HOTD is Hentai artists ;D which is awesome. and yeah i agree, but i dont think it should matter whether or not it has too much ecchi, who gives a shit? only fags would complain. just watch the anime, theres more than just panty, titty, and ass shots in the damn show you know. theres guns, hot women, survival, hot women, shooting, hot women, killing, hot women, an amazing story… and hot women.. lol
From the Shouji Sato wiki.
“He has also published various dōjinshi under the pen name Inazuma and runs a hentai genre manga artist group called Digital Accel Works”
Here is the web site, many, if not all the images look like Shouji’s work.

If you want to help us get to the truth regarding Season 2. Look to the source.
Daisuke Sato wrote the story but it appears he is a bit of a recluse with no real online presence we can follow. In my opinion, he is the hold up.
Shoji Sato illustrated the manga, he has a personal web site at http://www.ghost-d.com/ssss/index.html.
He obviously still holds a real interest in HOTD. His email address can be found on his website.
Wonder why so much ecchi in HOTD? Check out Shoji’s pen name Inazuma. http://www.digitalaccelworks.com.
The manga was published by Fujimi Shobo in their Dragon Age magazine. If something new was going to happen, we would probably see it announced first in this magazine. http://www.fujimishobo.co.jp/sp/201002hotd/
MadHouse created the anime, based on the manga http://www.madhouse.co.jp. They have not responded to requests for info on HOTD
Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime for the US market. http://www.sentai-filmworks.com. As of a few days ago, Sentai filmworks confirmed they have no information on future HOTD episodes.
Note: If you can’t read Japanese, use google to translate a website.

Truth is: No one has the exact information on Season 2, other than that there is no information, only rumors, april fools pranks and dis-information. And then fans like Moo Moos comments below (and myself on occasion) repeating false hope rumors we read online.
