Takashi Komuro is a 17 year old sophomore high school student, who first noticed the epidemic occurring on school grounds. He has had a long history with Rei Miyamoto, which came to an end when Rei met his friend, Hisashi. Takashi in the past promised to marry Rei during their childhood. His memory of that event continued to pester him into high school. He is not smart or strong, but during the epidemic, he proves useful for his ability to get the job done. His courage also proves useful in swaying the ladies.

Rei Miyamoto is Takashi’s classmate, and childhood friend. She promised to marry him, but dropped him when she saw he couldn’t handle it, and decided to go out with his friend, Hisashi, instead. Rei is a moody character during the show, and you can’t quite determine her overall mood at anytime. She is trained in the spear martial arts, but it obviously doesn’t work too well in the zombie apocalypse, because of its chances of getting jammed into zombies. She also serves well for fan service in the anime.

Saeko Busujima is a high school senior and kendo practitioner. She is not only a kendo practitioner, but also the president of it in the school. Her moves are deadly, and her judgment is just as keen. She seems to lack all fear, and uses her skills to destroy everything in her way. She is an amazing asset to the group of survivors, because she never has to reload. Not only is she dangerous, but she never lets her emotions stray her decisions. She is the killing machine in the anime; also, a sexy demon.

Saya Takagi is another high school student, and she is the daughter of a highly influential politician. She is first seen in the anime with her classmate, Kohta Hirano, and totally bosses him around. She is a self proclaimed genius, and very annoying at most times. She only seems to have two moods: angry and cry baby. For the most part, she comes up with some pretty solid plans, but lacks the ability to slay zombies efficiently. Strategy is her strong-point and she also gives some fan service. Then again, it seems like all the girls do, which is a plus!

Kohta Hirano is a fat high school student who loves shooting. He knows everything about guns and his skills with them rival most soldiers. He seems to like bossy Saya, but he doesn’t see it happening. He follows orders well, and as long as he has ammo, he is a threat to all zombies. He can be seen as an emotional character for a guy further along in the anime, but not everyone can be cold as ice. He is the gun specialist in the group.

Shizuka Marikawa is the nurse of the high school with a really, really big set of “eyes.” She is very ditsy and loves getting drunk. She is the only adult in the group, but acts as if she was the youngest. Her big “heart” is what gives off most of the fan service for the show, and it’s enormously caring. She also has a friend who is a sniper in Japan’s Special Assault Team. Her role is taking care of the group, health-wise, and providing amazing fan service, while looking like a complete idiot at all times. Her physique is what keeps the group sane.
