Unfortunately Season 2 of Highschool of the Dead was not released on September 5, 2011, as many rumors stated it would be. The exact date of Season 2’s release is still unknown, but at least we know there will in fact be a Season 2. This was answered at Anime EXPO 2011 at the H.O.T.D panel Q/A’s. That really depends on what aspects of HOTD you enjoy.
http://www.anime-planet.com/ is a good place to search for and read reviews of anime. Anime is searchable based on various metadata, making it easer to find titles more in line with your interests.
Although its not full of zombies and e cups, ELFEN LIED is a violent, bloody, ecchi, horror thriller. It may work for you. And its available on many streaming services.
If its those bouncing e cups that make HOTD great for you, give Sekirei, Queens Blade or Ikki Tousen a shot.
If its the high school harem aspect that you like, Rosario + Vampire might be a good choice.
If you’re ready for a more heart wrenching story, watch Clannad and then the much better Clannad After Story.

Yeah, they have had 2 years to write and draw the anima. Still waiting.. I hope season 2 is longer cuz they have had plenty of time to make it more epic.!!!!!!!!
You guys need to chill. A good anime takes time to create and if it’s been in production the whole time, Season 2 should be well thought out already.
But what I want is for the anime to stick with the manga, I’ll be in shock if different people wrote it other than the authors.. It won’t be the same.
Much anticipation is in this anime, and I think it will be well worth the wait. All advice I can give you now is to take your minds off it and try other series. There are plenty more out there that’s just as good as High School of the Dead. After all, this was the one that got me into watching anime in the first place.

Some of us a just trying to cut through all the rumors and get to some truth.
But I agree, lots of good anime out there, and like you this one (and a few others) got me watching a lot of anime.
I think you don’t need to worry about someone else writing HOTD, sure appears like the hold up is with the original author. Once he writes more and his brother gets to drawing it. Season 2 anime can’t be far behind.
My Opinion: Possible reasons HOTD is delayed.
The earthquake and tsunami had a great impact on the lives of people in Japan.
Daisuke Sato just stopped writing and doesn’t want anyone else working on it.
Shoji Sato is busy with his other works, but I’m guessing from his web site he is pretty proud of his work on HOTD (and should be!) and would actually like to continue on with HOTD. http://www.ghost-d.com/ssss/top.html
Maybe its all come down to money and licensing rights.
In any case, only a few people (maybe only two, the Sato boys) know whats going on with HOTD any they are not talking.
I contacted Sentai Filmworks, the US company who licensed HOTD. They don’t even know whats up with a season 2 and would sure tell us if/when they do know.

The guy running this wiki (http://highschool-of-the-dead.answers.wikia.com/wiki/Will_there_be_a_season_2) seems to have his finger on HOTD more than most. And he doesn’t have any evidence of a season 2.
For those of you who keep asking “When is season 2 coming out” I don’t mean to say with any certainty that there wont be a HOTD 2, only that there currently is not a season 2. Nor is there any REAL evidence season 2 exists or is even being worked on.

I think Takashi should at least end up with someone like Rei or Saeko. This anime is by far the best one Ive seen apart from Ookamisan. I love this ANIME!!!! <3333

This anime in awesome, epic, super(and all the other badass adjectives out there combined). I love it. I’ve just watched it this year and when i finished the first episode, i was regretting that i only had 11 more to go. Hope season 2 realy comes out this fall.
i think takashi is better with Saeko.
why isnt it out yet? i heard that i was going to be out in 2011 but now im speaking in 2012! i wasnt high school of the dead season 2 >.<
HOTD is one of my favorite animes. i spend alot of my down time watching anime and writing reviews on pages such as this. i would give HOTD a 5 star rating. its a great action/romance/horror show. im sure if you wanted you could find more than those three to classify it but im trying to keep it simple. i am holding season 2 to great heights and cannot wait for it to hit screens in america or in japan with english subs.
i am in love with this show. seriously, i watch it everyday. i really hope there is a season 2!!!!!and i am begging for an englisg dubbed verson cause 1)in not japenesse and 2)i hate reading. i really hope saeko and takashi will be together <3.
