After a long 2 year hiatus, Highschool of the Dead will be returning this Spring, 2013. Fans of the series never gave up hope, and it looks like that hope will finally pay off this year! The return is revealed by these photos of the new publications for the manga’s fifth and sixth volumes which will be in full color. The wrap around band on the manga publications states that it will be returning soon. Another photo shows a full page advertisement saying that the manga is returning Spring 2013. Although currently no return date has been specified, we will keep you informed as new information on the series is revealed. Stay tuned, with the return of the manga, Highschool of the Dead Season 2 of the anime series looks like it may finally return in 2013 as well!

how can you do this to us (hotd fans). weve been waiting for almost 3 years now! I cannot understand why you just gave up on the anime and everything else they would be very profitable for you (sato) and it would be very satisfying for us. I could only hope that you see this and you change your mind. This was the first anime i ever watched and its disappointing to see it just fade away.hopefully i will check this website a couple months for now and in the anime section there will be a season 2 episodes 1 -12. Please do this for me and all of the other hotd fans . were counting on you sato!
it didnt do well on japan since they are not a big fan of zombies but it was successful in foreign countries especially in america but as i was saying it didnt became well in JAPAN so they wont make a 2nd season
I don’t completely agree, compared to other ecchi anime (the kind that is broadcast late night in Japan) it did OK. Compared to mainstream anime, you are correct it didn’t do as well, but this isn’t mainstream anime. DVD/Bluray sales were respectable, better than some ecchi anime that have had 2 and 3 seasons. Madhouse did plan to make a season 2, it didn’t stop because of how some people feel it did. It stopped because Daisuke Sato stopped writing the manga. Daisuke Sato owns the story so when he stopped, Madhouse had no choice but to stop, they couldn’t continue without him.
The Japanese like zombies themed films just like anyone else.
A few of the Japanese zombie movies I can think of, there are lots more. (I know, these are ‘B’ movies, but most zombie movies are)
Versus, Wild Zero, Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombie, Chanbara Beauty: The Movie – Cortex, Helldriver, Zombie Ass, Toilet of the Dead.
Japan invented the Resident Evil games. The last resident evil movie made more money in Japan than it did in the US.
Resident Evil Damnation and Resident Evil Degeneration were made by the Japanese. A couple of good animated movies.
Season 2 hasn’t been talked about by anyone officially associated with HOTD since 2011, so give it up. No body knows if or when there will be a season 2.
