After a long 2 year hiatus, Highschool of the Dead will be returning this Spring, 2013. Fans of the series never gave up hope, and it looks like that hope will finally pay off this year! The return is revealed by these photos of the new publications for the manga’s fifth and sixth volumes which will be in full color. The wrap around band on the manga publications states that it will be returning soon. Another photo shows a full page advertisement saying that the manga is returning Spring 2013. Although currently no return date has been specified, we will keep you informed as new information on the series is revealed. Stay tuned, with the return of the manga, Highschool of the Dead Season 2 of the anime series looks like it may finally return in 2013 as well!

‘looks like’ it ‘may’, not real encouraging. That might have been possible 6 months ago, but when only one new act was released so far this year, it pretty much destroyed any chances of the Anime returning this year. We need about 4 more acts to be published before anyone can start making season 2. And it took 5 months to make season 1, so if they started now, it still wouldn’t be done.
I’m just the little voice or reason here.
With that said, who is the more foolish? Since I’ve been watching for news and researching everything HOTD for a couple years now. Am I the crazy one for thinking there ‘might’ actually be a season 2 some day?
When talking about this Announcement… I’m not talking about any optimistic claims made by the individual who wrote this blog post. I’m specifically talking about the photo taken of the HOTD ad in a Dragon Age magazine earlier this year. The one linked to in this post. It was ONLY talking about the manga. No one ‘officially’ associated with Anime has said anything about season 2.
Since the is no reason, absolutely none, to keep news of season 2 a secret. You can rest assured that once season 2 is funded and a production house is chosen (hopefully Madhouse again), it will be officially announced. Until that happens all of us are only guessing when it may possibly come out.

Hi, The Anime will NOT return in 2013. This announcement was about the manga, of which only one new act, Act 30, was released so far this year.
There will be no season 2 in 2013. And if things don’t start looking better for the manga, there wont even be a season 2 in 2014.
But there is still hope. Shouji Sato (The illustrator for the HOTD manga) recently posted this on his web site.

And i became a fan of this series and now wen i hear thate its going bad for them makes me realy sad.
